Always wanted to stop by since the restaurant changed ownership in 2018. The log cabin structure is Minnesota style inviting, hard to resist. The updated decor looks great!! The menu by Chef Nick Soderlund is extensive with choices for the seafood or meat lover. Best of all the cocktail choices are huge which includes my favorite a Smoked Old Fashioned! Cassie was knowledgeable with the entire food and drink menu, very helpful! Knotty Bar And Grill is closed Monday and Tuesday, but the other days of the week enjoy!
The food here is pretty good, lots of variety, and decently priced drinks - even the cocktails. The only reason I rated 4 stars is the different entrances are confusing, the hostess is located in the very front of the restaurant and the doors closest to the parking lot do not direct you there so people walk in and are confused about how to be seated. So it gets kind of crowded and the doors let in a ton of cold air. I'd suggest directing people to the other entrance OR putting the hostess by those entrances. :)
If you are a fan of Deep Fried Pickles try these in a light crispy beer batter. The Chipotle sauce served with them was okay, but I wonder what a more tart, tangy sauce might be like because that heavier sauce weighed it down overpowering the tasty batter. My habit is trying the deep fried pickles wherever I am since I first tasted them in Texas over a decade ago. These are among the best. Hamburger was decent. Since I am in the area for work until October I shall return because their are other menu items to try.
We ordered take-out on a Friday night (due to the Covid situation). The person who answered the phone was super friendly and nice. Our food was ready in 15 minutes! We ordered the steak-tip appetizer. It had a healthy amount of mushrooms on it and was delicious. We also ordered the breaded walleye with the sweet potato hash (it was like candy- amazing!) and the bacon cabbage (super tasty and paired well with the fish). All around a great experience! Would order from here again.
